INTRODUCTION

Since 2021, To Heal the Heart has been screened across Japan, moving audiences with its message of healing and resilience.

Inspired by real stories of those affected by the Great Hanshin-Awaji and Great East Japan Earthquakes, the film explores how we confront trauma, loss, and the search for connection.

Founded in 2023 in Kobe, our studio believes in the power of cinema to spark conversation, ease suffering, and bring people together.

Through storytelling, we strive to foster understanding, resilience, and hope—delivering meaningful films to audiences in Japan and beyond.

STORY

Born in the year of the Great Hanshin Earthquake, Akari is a third-generation Korean resident in Japan.

Haunted by the trauma of the disaster and a lifetime of discrimination, her father tries to pass down both the painful memories of the past and a deep sense of cultural pride. But for Akari, the earthquake is a distant event—one she neither remembers nor feels connected to.

Torn between her father's expectations and her own evolving sense of self, she begins to question everything: her identity, her heritage, and the path she truly wants to follow.
